Rejuvenate Your Look with Botox

See your Tulsa, OK dermatologist and fulfill your New Year’s resolution to look younger.

Even though a New Year is upon us it doesn’t mean you have to look another year older. Unfortunately, sun damage, stress and other factors can take their toll on our skin, causing significant wrinkles and fine lines. If you want Father Time to leave your skin alone, then it’s time to see your Tulsa, OK dermatologist about Botox.

What is Botox?

This prescription is injected into the muscles of your face to reduce the look of everything from fine lines to severe wrinkles. Botox is made from a chemical known as botulinum toxin, which temporarily paralyzes muscles and stops them from contracting, which softens wrinkles and lines in the face.

What does Botox target?

Botox is clinically proven to reduce the look of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and lines between eyebrows. BotoxHowever, Botox can also be used to treat other conditions such as crossed eyes, excessive sweating, migraine headaches and muscle spasms.

How long does Botox treatment take? Does it hurt?

Getting Botox is extremely easy and the procedure takes no more than 10 minutes. During your visit we will inject a series of thin needles into certain muscle groups in the face, depending on the look you want to achieve. We can numb the sites either with ice or topical anesthesia prior to injection. This should lessen any discomfort surrounding the needles; however, patients only notice a slight pinch during their treatment.

There is no downtime after getting Botox, so patients can continue with their day after treatment.

When will I notice results with Botox?

The results won’t be instant; however, you will notice a slight improvement in your appearance after three or four days. By around two weeks you will start to see your full results.

Can I get Botox more than once?

A lot of our patients enjoy their younger look and want to maintain their results. This means keeping up with subsequent treatments to ensure that your results remain. Results last anywhere from four to six months, so we recommend getting follow-up treatments during this time.

Who shouldn’t get Botox?

Those who have a muscle disorder like myasthenia gravis or ALS should not get Botox. If you’ve recently had surgery on your face or you have weak facial muscles, this treatment may not be right for you. If you are allergic or have experienced bad side effects from botulinum toxin in the past then you will want to discuss this with your Tulsa, OK dermatologist first.
